Thousands of Nigerians living overseas do have a very strong desire to own houses or property of their own in their motherland, Nigeria. They all do dream of coming back home someday and moving into a house which wholly belongs to them. They dream of investing, big-time, in Nigerian businesses that offer good yield.
Research has shown that one of the major reasons why a lot of Nigerians are still stuck in foreign lands is just because most of them do not have a property they can call their own once they arrive and decide to settle down in Nigeria. Most of them also do not have investments of their own in Nigeria or in any blue-chip company back home.
Research has shown that most of these Nigerians are actually men and women of means: they are rich, comfortable and can effortlessly invest in businesses and afford houses of their own in Nigeria. But they do have one major fear: who can they trust their hard-earned funds with to buy investments or properties for them in Nigeria? Is it their families or friends?. They have heard stories of property fraudsters in Nigeria and most of them have actually fallen victims of Nigerian property scams. Besides that, most foreign-based Nigerians do not have the luxury of ample time to visit Nigeria to inspect the various properties they may be interested in acquiring.
With the gains so far made by Nigeria in areas of banking and other industrial sectors, foreign investments in Nigeria have shot up in the recent past. Hundreds of Nigerian-owned businesses in the United Kingdom and other European-based corporate organizations are now enthusiastic to find new investments in Nigeria and to acquire properties of their own with a view to setting up corporate offices in Nigeria. Only Nigerian real estate agents, mortgage banks and property developers and investment companies who have strategically positioned themselves will harness the full potentials of the opportunity presented by this obvious boom in Nigeria’s property and investment industry.
Amongst other noble objectives, the Nigerian Property & Investment Show, UK, has been designed to bring together, for the first time, in an international setting in London, all major actors in the Nigerian general investment and property market to meet one-on-one with Nigerians in diaspora who desire to invest in Nigerian companies, buy their own lands, houses and estates in Nigeria. UK, European and other foreign-based corporate organizations will also be at the two day property show and seminar to negotiate and close various Nigerian-situated property and investment deals.
